With nut allergies finding granola bars is a challenge, and we really like them sooooooo, we made some. I adapted my friend's soaked granola recipe http://onebusymama-erica.blogspot.com/search?q=soaked+granola I soaked it and then mixed in the extras including raisins and sunflower seeds for protein. I spread it on cookie sheets, cut it with a pizza cutter, and put it in the grill since it was 97 degrees that day.
I did learn a few things. Soak your raisins or they will overly carmelize. Also soaking raw sunflower seeds for this would be amazing. Also, when putting it on the grill use a cast iron griddle to make the heat more even, its not that great burnt.
They passed the test when Mr. Picky ate one

Taking steps on my journey
I am trying to move my family toward a more traditional foods diet. It is a slow process, but each little step feels like a triumph. My DH even sat down and ate yogurt last night.
Yesterday I invested in some coconut oil, celtic sea salt, rolled oats and barley for soaked granola, and wheat berries to make bulgar. I'm waiting for my water and milk kefir grains to arrive.
I really wish I could have a traditional foods mama playdate to make stuff together.

Being sick stinks
I'm still fighting this nasty flu. WHY are there still more boogers coming. I just snorted ginger to try to clear the passages. That stings. Now Bacon is getting a fever and more boogers. The downstairs needs to be vacuumed and steam cleaned, the yard needs to be weeded and mown, the laundry is piling up. Three days under the weather really takes a toll. I'm ready to feel better now.
I have all this wonderful fiber begging to be processed and spun though. I do have some real fun to look forward to.
